Bradley Cooper To Play Frank Bullitt In Steven Spielberg’s New Movie – Deadline

exclusive: It looks like Steven Spielberg has found his Frank Bullitt, according to Deadline , with Bradley Cooper closing a deal to star as the no-nonsense San Francisco cop in the new original. Bullitt The story centers around the classic character made famous by Stephen McQueen in the 1968 thriller set at Warner Bros., and Spielberg and his producing partner Christy McCosco will produce the pic with Krieger (marking their second collaboration maestro), with Josh Singer to write the script. Steve McQueen’s son Chad and granddaughter Molly McQueen will produce the new film.

Sources insist that this is not a remake of the original film but a new take on the character. In the original film, Frank Bullitt was a no-nonsense San Francisco cop on the hunt for the mob kingpin who killed his witness. Considered one of McQueen’s most iconic roles, the film features one of the most famous car chase scenes in cinematic history. Sources also state that the film is still in development.

Cooper’s deal recently ended, and he and Spielberg have been talking about the character, and what seems like a new take on the story going back to the pandemic when everyone is stuck in quarantine and has nothing but time on their hands. Cooper and Spielberg have been trying to get together for years, going back to when the legendary director approached Cooper about directing.
