As the corporate backlash against Kanye West mounts, Gap has announced it will pull the rapper’s Yeezy Gap merchandise from its stores and shut down YeezyGap.com. Additionally, Foot Locker is pulling Yeezy products from its shelves.

“The recent comments and behavior of our former partner further underscores why we are taking immediate action to remove Yeezy Gap product from our stores,” the retailer said in a statement Tuesday.

In recent weeks, retailers, social media platforms, celebrities and fashion and entertainment companies have pulled out of business alliances with West over anti-Semitic remarks on a podcast and on Twitter, amid other controversial behavior.

“Anti-war, racism and hatred are inexcusable in any form and will not be tolerated in line with our values. On behalf of our customers, employees and shareholders, we partner with organizations that fight hate and discrimination,” Gap announced.

Gap Inc. (GPS) and Kanye West both announced last month that they would end a 10-year partnership signed with their fashion company Yeezy in 2020.

The first piece from Yeezy Gap was a $200 jacket, which instantly sold out online when it launched. A handful of the brand’s subsequent launches, including more jackets and hoodies, have also sold out instantly.

West expanded his sold-out Yeezy Gap line by bringing in luxury fashion powerhouse brand Balenciaga to launch the “Yeezy Gap Engineered By Balenciaga” collection. In July, the collection went on sale in Gap stores for the first time.

In mid-September, West said he was ending his partnership with Gap because of “significant incompatibility.” Balenciaga announced last week that it was cutting ties with Ye.

The rapper’s attorney, Nicholas Gravante, said in a statement in September that West had “no choice but to end their partnership” because the retailer allegedly breached their partnership by not opening Yeezy-branded stores and distributing his apparel as originally planned. .

On the same day, Gap confirmed that it had pulled the plug on the Yeezy partnership. But it was initially said that existing items would continue to be sold in the company’s stores and on its website until the first half of 2023, a move that has now been reversed.
