
With more than 6,000 state parks in the United States to choose from, a new analysis of reviews by Travel Lens has revealed the 10 “most beautiful” state parks in the country.
Travel Lens, an online travel publication, analyzed the total number of Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews – as well as how many times the words ‘beautiful’, ‘amazing’ and ‘interesting’ were mentioned in those reviews – the park’s Instagram popularity, and Google search data to compile a list of the “most pleasing aesthetics”.
Niagara Falls State Park in New York is considered the most Instagrammed state park, with over 3.5 million Instagram posts.

Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park – Michigan
An analysis of Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park – Michigan’s largest state park – found that nearly 90% of reviews mentioned the word “beautiful,” earning it the title of the most beautiful US state park. Based on Google searches, the park has grown in popularity, up 112% in the last year, according to Travel Lens.
“As Michigan’s largest state park, this awe-inspiring landscape abounds in vastness and beauty,” the company said.
With roughly 60,000 acres and access to Lake Superior’s shoreline, the park features a 35,000-acre old-growth forest, roaring waterfalls, more than 90 miles of hiking trails, campgrounds and more.
Smugglers’ notch State Park – Vermont
An analysis of Smugglers’ Notch State Park in Vermont found that about 76% of reviews mentioned the park’s beauty.
Grayson Highlands State Park – Virginia
Analysis of Grayson Highlands State Park in Virginia found that about 65% of reviews mention the park’s beauty.
Hocking Hills State Park – Ohio
Analysis of Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio found that about 62% of reviews mention the park’s beauty.
Deception Pass State Park – Washington
An analysis of Deception Pass State Park in Washington found that about 61% of reviews mentioned the park’s beauty.
Brown County State Park – Indiana
Analysis of Brown County State Park in Indiana found that about 57% of reviews mention the park’s beauty.
